SACRAMENTO — A cabdriver was arraigned Friday on charges of sexually molesting a female fare, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department reported.

Kamal Jeet Singh, 41, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual battery of a victim while unconscious, Sgt. Tim Curran said.

According to deputies, Singh assaulted a 23-year-old intoxicated woman about 4:30 a.m. Sept. 22 after she called the Checker Cab for a ride home. He drove her to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her while she was passed out, deputies said.
 
 
The woman eventually was driven home but later realized she had been sexually assaulted and reported the crime. After a subsequent investigation, the woman identified Singh as her assailant, deputies said.

Singh also is in custody without bail on two outstanding warrants for traffic violations.
