WOMAN IS TRAPPED IN TAXI CRASH
A WOMAN was trapped in the back seat of an upturned taxi yesterday after it collided with a car at a busy junction on the outskirts of Paisley.
The shocked 57-year-old was helped out of the black Peugeot by firefighters when they arrived and forced open a door.
She was later taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and treated for injuries.
The crash happened during the morning rush hour on Barrhead Road at the Hurlet and brought traffic chaos to the junction – one of the busiest in the Paisley area.
One driver said: “The taxi was on its side and a woman passenger was trapped in the back seat.
“I think the only door she could get out of was jammed shut. She had to stay there until firefighters arrived at the scene.”
Both drivers escaped injury.
Last night police appealed for witnesses to the accident, which happened between 7.30am and 7.45am yesterday.
Anyone with any information that might help officers with their inquiries should ring Barrhead Police Office on 0141 532 6200.
