Cabbie backs new survey
AN Abbots Langley cabbie has backed a new survey which says being a London taxi driver is the hardest job in Britain.
Paul Brooks, from Upper Highway, Abbots Langley, has been a cabbie for eight years, and spent three years learning the Knowledge - the exam all drivers must pass to prove they can find their way around London.
He was intriguied by research carried out by the Discovery Channel which found that being a cabbie on the streets of the capital is harder than earning a living on a North Sea trawler or working in a slaughterhouse.
The 50-year-old said: "It's a very difficult job and very tiring - it's like driving to Scotland and back everyday."
