Taxi insurance broker is snapped up by Swinton
AN INSURANCE broker based in Liverpool, Widnes and Wirral has been acquired by industry giant Swinton for an undisclosed sum.
Graysons Insurance Consultants specialises in insurance for taxis and private hire vehicles and has been in existence for 20 years.
Swinton, the UK's largest high street insurance chain, claimed the deal demonstrated its commitment to the specialist broker sector as well as continuing its growth strategy.
It added that it will utilise Graysons' 20-year heritage of taxi insurance brokering to offer its customers highly competitive rates, along with tailored policies.
Neil Ackinclose, head of Swinton Taxis, said: "This is a great acquisition, giving us access to a specialist insurer for this local market, allowing us to offer very competitive rates.
"This deal will enable us to offer customers in the Merseyside area a specialist service, enhancing the strong reputation Swinton has earned in delivering customers competitive quotes and consistent quality of service."
Swinton said it was fully committed to existing employees and all Graysons' branch staff will remain employed by Swinton, who will ensure a smooth transfer of existing staff into the Swinton organisation.
The Graysons' brand will run alongside that of Swinton's, maintaining the strong local name built within the Merseyside area.
The main beneficiaries of the deal are George and Marjorie Wilcox, of Widnes, who each own 50% of the share capital.
Mr Wilcox said: "We are delighted to have made the move to join the Swinton fold. This strengthens both Graysons' and Swinton's position in the taxi and private hire market and offers good opportunities for growth.
