Pensioner run over by taxi
A pensioner is in a critical condition after being hit by a taxi as she was crossing the road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which took place opposite the Total petrol station in Milton Road, on Sunday evening.
The 67-year-old Portsmouth woman suffered a fractured skull, broken legs and pelvis and serious internal injuries after being hit by the blue Peugeot taxi.
The driver of the taxi, a 42-year-old Havant man, was arrested and bailed by police until January 2007.
The victim was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital and is in the intensive care unit.
