The assault and robbery of a cab driver in the city's southwest Monday (June 9), has London police searching for a lone male suspect.

The incident occurred at around 11 p.m., when the 27-year-old cab driver was approached by the male suspect in a parking lot at Notre Dame Drive and Viscount Road.

Police said the suspect enquired about a ride, hopped in the cab then punched the driver in the face, stealing money in the process.

The suspect fled on foot and the cab driver suffered non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, 6' tall, 180 lbs., long black hair, goatee, wearing brown cargo shorts and a black and white striped golf shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or contact Crime Stoppers online (see link) or call 1-800-222-TIPS.

i don't know 1 thing, why not police or council give rights to the taxi driver for defense. In this event if cab driver also give punch to the passenger then result, cab driver loose his licience. In my opinion all cab driver should have some sort of basket ball cue or something other thing as a defense and police/council should allow.
