Teen given bail for mugging cabbie
The State Government is seeking a report on how a teenager accused of mugging a taxi driver was granted bail.
The teen was granted bail by a Bidura Children's Court magistrate for his 18th birthday and is now on the run.
Acting Attorney General John Watkins says he wants to know how this could have happened.
"We won't tolerate attacks on public transport workers like taxi drivers.
"That's why we changed the law last year to toughen it, to put public transport workers on par with nurses and police. That's why it is distressing and I am concerned about the court's decision.
"That's why I am seeking a full report as to how this person was granted bail."
