The city of Chicago is honoring its cab drivers this morning.

Department of Consumer Services Commissioner Norma Reyes will present several drivers with taxicab medallions at today's ceremony.

The medallions are for drivers who demonstrate "exemplary customer service."

It's also the 20th anniversary for the Public Chauffeur Training Institute located at Harold Washington College.

The institute is a joint venture between the college and the Department of Consumer Services.

Chauffeur drivers take classes and prepare for the city's licensing examination for public vehicles.

There are about 63-hundred taxis in the city of Chicago and about 13-thousand chauffeur drivers.

The ceremony is taking place at eight a-m at Harold Washington College on 30 East Lake Street.
